EscapeE is equipped with a dual-mode editor suitable for programmers typing in IDF code 'from scratch' (Text mode) and users building and editing documents one step at a time (Tree mode). In addition, "wizards" are provided to set up specialized, but commonly used, documents; see
The IDF code for these 'special case' documents may be customized using the IDF editor - it is engaged automatically by the wizard once the basic structure has been laid down. For 'general case' documents, however, it is best to use the IDF editor directly: see
